Grameen Foundation provides micro-finance and technology services to help the world’s poorest, especially women, improve their lives and escape poverty through access to information, small loans, and viable business opportunities.
Akosua took out a micro-loan to invest in a small kiosk in her village in Ghana to sell smoked fish, tomatoes, eggplant, ground nuts, dried pepper, and other items.
She makes about 50 cedi (US$50) in sales a day at her kiosk, generating a daily profit of about 10 cedi (US$10). “My husband is happy to see my business growing,” Akosua exclaims with a big grin and a hearty chuckle.
